Matrix Science Establishes Subsidiary in Japan to Serve Growing Proteomics Market

Matrix Science, today announced that it has strengthened its commitment to the growing Japanese proteomics market by establishing a new subsidiary, Matrix Science KK.

The Tokyo-based management team, comprising Naoki Tanaka and Itaru Usami, has very extensive knowledge and experience of Matrix Science software products and their applications.

"Japanese science is exceptionally strong in proteomics technologies, especially mass spectrometry", said John Cottrell, one of the founders of Matrix Science. "This has made Japan a very important market for our software, consistently representing some 30% of our worldwide business. By establishing Matrix Science KK, we can provide a higher level of service to our present and future customers."

The establishment of Matrix Science KK was greatly assisted by The Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) – a Japanese government-funded organisation that promotes inward investment.

About Matrix Science

Matrix Science develops and markets bioinformatics products and services in the fields of mass spectrometry and proteomics. Currently one of the hottest areas of life science research, proteomics is the study of the protein complement of a cell or tissue in a specific physiological state. In recent years, mass spectrometry has become the method of choice for protein identification and characterisation, analysing large numbers of samples at high speed. Mascot, Matrix Science’s lead product, is a software suite for protein identification that enables mass spectrometry data to be rapidly matched against protein or nucleic acid sequence databases.
