Replacements for NCBI nr

NCBI nr is the comprehensive database of non-identical protein sequences compiled by the National Center for Biotechnology Information. The database configuration has long been shipped with Mascot Server as the NCBIprot predefined definition. Disruption ahead for NCBI databases

NCBI has announced that it will drop ‘gi number’ unique identifiers on June 15, 2016. Details are given in section 1.4 of the GenBank release notes.
